15.12.2011   Q&Awith Natalie Chalcarzová

Natalie Chalcarzová studied sculpture at the Studio of Sculpture led by Michal Gabriel at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. Her objects are inspired by nature, giving them a timeless and original dimension. Natalie showed her works at Designblok of the Goodfood project.

Q: Do you think artists have to suffer?
A:
They don’t, but it may help some of them be more productive. Everybody who is suffering from irrational emotions feels the need to deal with them and each one of us deals with this stuff in their own way. Artists may deal with their problems in an artistic way.

Q: If you had an opportunity to talk to a deceased artist, who would it be and what would you ask him/her?
A:
I would rather make a piece of art come to life and I would like it to tell me its story.

Q: Please define the limits where art ends and bizarre perversion begins (or the other way around).
A:
To me, art is very intimate, to an extent. Whatever the topic, as long as the output is still intimate, it can’t be bizarre perversion. I don’t think it works the other way, though. A golden-framed perversion will always remain a perversion.
